Bible Study: Called to Repair the Breach

All through the life of Jesus, we witness him healing the sick, comforting the broken-hearted, and preaching Good News to the poor. We also hear stories of Jesus calling the powerful into humility, and indicting hypocrisy and injustice. The ministries supported through One Great Hour of Sharing help the Church embody and enact the compassion Jesus showed us. This Lenten study will help preachers and non-preachers, alike, reflect on the lectionary scriptures (Year A) for each week while sharing stories from the work congregations make possible through gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing. These reflections come from staff active within these areas of ministry and situate each week’s scripture with an eye toward how our Church reaches out to become “repairers of the breach” in our world today.
